Alone
A pine tree sits alone a hillside with the Sierra Nevada mountain range behind it.
Twin Pines
Yosemite Falls in the background, the sun was setting and lit the two trees perfectly.
Washoe Storm
A storm over Mt Rose this evening as I setup for a sunset shot in the Washoe Valley wetlands.
Yosemite Valley
Often I wonder what the first people thought when they wandered into this valley. I know every time I do my jaw drops to the floor. It really puts things into perspective that no matter what this will be here long after we are gone. It's humbling.
Down from Above
A very famous spot in Yosemite. Glacier Point. I have been to Yosemite quite a number of times as its only a few hours drive, however i never seem to time it right for when Glacier point is open. Luckily that wasn't the case this time and wow what a view. I especially love the valley floor below and the evening scene.
Sunset Over Kings Beach
Took a chance that there would be some cloud cover for last nights sunset and drove about an hour from my house to King's Beach in Lake Tahoe. Was gifted with such an amazing sunset the colors were just spectacular.
What's Left
As the remaining light leaves the area, what's left of the wetlands remains still and uninhabited by the local bird life. Winter is coming and there will not be much life here until February, during nesting season.
Stormy Sand Harbor
A storm on the shores of Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe. You can't see them in this photo but their are surfers out there brave enough to jump into freezing cold water and surf the waves that were rather large for a lake.
Washoe Valley Sunset
The sky simply exploded in a rich vibrant red. The remnants of a storm was a perfect reflection.
Getting There
On the way to Carson City, the sky exploded with color and drama.
Just One More Shot
A fellow photographer up on the hill shooting the sunset. It was our only real sunset after almost 6 days of camping in the Alaskan Wilderness. The rest of the days were too cloudy or pouring rain.
Roses are Red
A famous Hot Air Balloon touches down on Lake Tahoe only to take off again, just skimming the surface of the lake.
Lifeguard on Duty
Famous Sand Harbor is host to a famous chair. Photographed numerous times, the chair is a attraction all its own as it enjoys spectacular views of Lake Tahoe.
Sunset Pasture
A beautiful sunset after a great rain earlier that day caused small lakes and ponds to form over much of the farmland.. A cow in the foreground is a happy cow. Who says only happy cows come from California?
Sand Harbor Summer
Summertime at Sand Harbor is heaven to most. The pristine cool water and the soft sand is too inviting to pass up.
Snowy Tahoe Sunset
It had snowed the night before so there isn't much left as it was a warmer than usual day. Walking on these rocks with snow proved quite difficult and almost dropped my equipment on more than one occasion. Luckily it was worth the risk.
Sagebrush Sunset
Lovely sunset in my own backyard of Carson City, Nevada.
Before and After the Storm
The water was a sign a storm had come through but there was another on the way. The Sierra Mountains in the background added to the scene.
Job's Peak
El Nino has caused a significant amount of rain not usually seen in this area. Because of this, many farmlands were flooded after some recent rains. Job's Peak can be seen in the distance as the tallest peak in the valley.
King's Canyon Waterfall
Located in the heart of Carson City, Nevada, the Kings Canyon Falls is a spectacular view and a delight to visit.
Smokey Sunset
Sometimes bad things bring out the good things. In this case, fires in the west caused smoke to fill the sky but provide us with this spectacular sunset along Lake Tahoe.
