An adult Great Horned Owl dozes in the spring sun, eyes half-closed, while two fluffy owlets peer out from the hollow cottonwood snag where they nest. The young owls are still covered in pale, downy feathers, and their wide yellow eyes give them a look of wide-eyed curiosity. Their parent rests calmly above them. Fresh catkins on the bare branches and a clear blue sky mark the change of season.
