Two American White Pelicans wade through a shallow marsh, lined up so closely that at first they look like one bird with two heads. Their long orange bills point the same way, and warm evening light catches their white feathers and the wispy crest on the nearer bird. Behind them, dark green reeds and golden grasses make a soft backdrop, while the rippling blue water below reflects the last of the day's light. It's a quiet, slightly comical moment.
