A female American Goldfinch perches among clusters of chartreuse maple blossoms, her olive-gold feathers nearly matching the flowers around her. Her head is tilted down to inspect a snack, with a few crumbs still stuck to her bill. Crisp white wing bars and dark flight feathers add contrast, while the soft blue-gray background makes the bright yellows stand out even more.
